Welcome to CTU-Denver

For the good life, the sky's the limit in the Mile-High City!

Denver has been the epitome of urban life in the great American West almost since its founding in 1858. It was established by a party of gold prospectors in what was then the Kansas Territory and named for James W. Denver, the territorial governor. Nicknamed the Mile-High City because it's a full statue mile (5,280 feet) above sea level, Denver claims breath-taking views of the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop for the city's stunning contemporary skyline.

Since Denver's founding, the discovery of gold, silver and oil led to a series of economic booms and busts. Today, however, the city is prospering due to a diverse mix of industries, including tourism, electronics, computers, aviation, space exploration, global weather and telecommunications. To support the growth of these high-tech businesses, educational institutions such as Colorado Technical University have grown with the city, expanding their degree programs and their impact.

But Denver has much more to offer than hard work and studying. With over 300 sunny days a year, a dry, temperate climate and the Rockies nearby, it's a justly celebrated recreation center for skiing, hiking, mountain biking and white-water rafting. And if you enjoy spectator sports, the city offers five professional home teams to cheer for.

Denver also supports the arts with dozens of museums, galleries, theaters, diversity and cultural celebrations and concert halls. With tourism accounting for a good share of the city's income, restaurants, clubs and other entertainment venues can be found in abundance. All of these elements make Denver, Colorado, an exciting, inspiring and dynamic city in which to live, study and prosper.
